Transformers and Rectifiers sets up Rs 100 cr mfg facility

Transformers and Rectifiers (India) Ltd, an Ahmedabad-based transmission and distribution major, today inaugurated a state-of-the-art facility for manufacturing transformers at Moraiya in Ahmedabad with an investment of Rs. 100 crore.

The new facility, built-up an area of 14,000 sq.mt., has the production capacity of 16,000 MVA. After the unit is fully commissioned, the total production capacity of the company will increase to 23,000 MVA per annum.

The new unit will produce transformers of 220 KV to 765 KV. "In the first year of operations, the new unit will have the production capacity of 4,000 MVA, which means a revenue inflow of Rs. 150 to Rs. 160 crore", said Jitendra Mamtora, chairman and managing director, Transformers and Rectifiers (India) Ltd.

 

"With the new facility, the company has now leapfrogged to an elite league capable of manufacturing and testing 765 KV transformers", he added.

The company currently has orders to the tune of Rs. 470 crore on hand. The company has been growing constantly and its turnover stood higher at Rs. 450 crore in 2008-09 as against the Rs. 320 crore in 2007-08.
