Cold wave condition prevailed in many parts of Himachal Pradesh with the mercury staying between minus seven and minus 12 degrees Celsius in high altitude areas of the state.
The weather remained dry in most parts of the state and strong winds lashed Shimla which witnessed overcast condition.
Owing to low temperatures, skating started in Shimla's iceskating rink. After nearly a decade skating in the rink was feasible in early December. Last year, it had started on December 27.

Day temperatures fluctuated marginally and Una was the hottest in the region with a high of 26.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 21.5 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 21 degrees Celsius, Solan 19 degrees Celsius and Nahan 18.6 degrees Celsius.
The MeT office has predicted rains, thunderstorm or snow in mid and higher hills of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday.
