Sterling gets NABH accreditation

Sterling Hospitals has become the first hospital to get the accredition of National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and healthcare providers(NABH) in the state, hospital administration claimed.      

Patient care, security measures, internal standard of hygiene, quality of services and efficiency of nursing and medical staff are some of the key parametres of NABH accreditation, Sterling's CEO Rajiv Sharma told PTI.      

He added that there are only 25 hospitals in the country which have so far got NABH accreditation which was established in 2005 and works under Quality Council of India (QCI).      

He said that Sterling has always set new benchmarks for providing quality healthcare services in the state.      

According to him, NABH accreditation is renewed at every three years and it is granted after a vigorous inspection and assessment of the hospital which takes minimum one year.      

Meanwhile, he added that Sterling, which operates a 300 bed hospital in Ahmedabad and 110 bed hospital in Baroda, would open its new hospitals in Rajkot and Mundra in three months time.

"Rajkot and Mundra will become operational in three months time and subsequently a new hospital in Bhavnagar will be operational," he said, adding that Rajkot hospital is 180 bed super speciality centre while Mundra will be 110 bed hospital.      

He added that Sterling is investing around Rs 120-crore in three hospitals in Rajkot, Mundra and Bhavnagar in Saurashtra.      

Moreover, construction on a new hospital in Surat will begin soon and it will become operational next year, he added.      

Talking about the volumes of petients Sterling handles annually, he said that around 12,000 new patients are attended annually and more than 3,000 major surgeries are performed per year at Ahmedabad hospital.      

According to him, presently there are 1,200 employees including nursing, medical and para medical staff, in Ahmedabad and Baroda while 500 new staff is being recruited for Rajkot and Mundra centres.
