The final event of the European golf season "" Volvo Masters of Andalucia "" is being played this week without Ernie Els who has decided to skip the final event. Retief Goosen has also dropped out of the match to be held in Valderrama, Spain.

The tournament is reserved for the top 60 on the Money List and Els played at the event twice in the past "" in 1993 and 1998. Goosen, Europe's No. 1 player in 2001 and 2002, gave the tournment a miss last year.

Seve in trouble

Seve Ballesteros may have run into trouble with the European Tour once again. The Spanish star, who missed the season due to injuries, is in the midst of a controversy over an alleged assault on another Spanish golfer during a recent amateur event in Pedrena, Spain.

At the tournament, the three-time British Open champion is said to have hit Jose Maria Zamora. Zamora, who is also a tournament director on the European Tour, has reported the incident to European Tour officials.

The two have clashed at last year's Italian Open when Zamora, who was a Tour official, gave Ballesteros a penalty for slow play. Ballesteros refused to adjust his card or accept the penalty. He was subsequently fined by the Tour.
