Twenty Indian Premier League (IPL) matches will be played in three stadiums: Sheikh Zayed Stadium- Abu Dhabi, Sharjah CA Stadium, Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The opening match on April 16 will be played in Abu Dhabi between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders

The IPL GC has confirmed that the first phase of the Pepsi IPL 2014 season matches will be played in the UAE from April 16-30. While 20 matches will be in UAE, the balance will be in India.

It may be noted due to lesser number of teams, the duration of the league has also been shortened this time to 47 days and 60 matches, compared to 76 games played last season which was spread over 54 days.

"The first meeting is over and discussion happened on franchisee and amount which now has to be approved later. The meeting with IPL franchisees is going on now," said T C Mathew, Governing council member of BCCI.

He was talking to reporters outside the venue, where the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is holding a meeting of the franchises of the IPL in Chennai today.

While the opening match, between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, will be held on April 16 in Abu Dhabi, the last match, in UAE, will be at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on April 30 between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The schedule for the remaining 40 matches will be announced in due course.
