Lok Sabha Television Channel, launched as a 24-hour channel on July 24,2006, and run by Sansad Television Network under the Lok Sabha Secretariat, is the world's first TV channel operated by the legislature of a country.
 
Dubbed as Speaker Somnath Chatterjee's brainchild, the new channel aims to take Parliament closer to the people. It is run by Bhaskar Ghose, former secretary to government and DG Doordarshan.
