Aban Offshore today posted a net profit of Rs 71.50 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2008, a more than two-fold increase as compared to the same period a year ago.

		</script> </DIV><p class='TableClas'>The offshore drilling firm registered a total income of Rs 271.49 crore for the latest quarter as against Rs 143.03 crore for the corresponding period a year ago.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </P>
</p><p class='TableClas'>The company's Board of Directors during their meeting held today, recommended an equity dividend of Rs 3.60 per fully paid share and Rs 1.80 per partly paid shares for the year 2007-08.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </P>
</p><p class='TableClas'>In a separate filing, Aban Offshore announced a consolidated net profit of Rs 159.10 crore for the financial year 2007-08. </P>
</p><p class='TableClas'>During the period, it had a total income of Rs 731.81 crore.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </P>
</p><p class='TableClas'>Shares of the firm closed at Rs 2,658.95, down 0.70 per cent on the BSE. </P>
