Apollo may set up hospital in Fiji

Asia's largest health group, Apollo Hospitals Group, will set up a 200-bed hospital in Fiji. Apollo Group will ink a joint venture (JV) with its Fiji business partner by December 2006.
 
Talking to Business Standard, Preetha Reddy, managing director of Apollo Hospitals, said, "We will open a super specialty hospital with a 200-bed capacity in Fiji". The JV would be signed with the local business group in Fiji by the end of December 2006, she said..
 
The hospital will cater the patients from Fiji Island as well as Australia and New Zealand.
 
When asked to name the JV partner, she declined to give details, saying it was too early to disclose the partner's name. The super specialty hospital will provide medical facilities like cardiology, diabetology, critical care medicine and cosmetic plastic amongst others.
 
"The cost of the hospital project would be Rs 120 crore", she said. She added that the hospital would be completed within 18 to 24 months, following the signing of an agreement in December.
 
When asked whether the Apollo Hospital had identified a site for construction of its hospital in Fiji, she said, "None, the entire matter is at very early stage".
