MIXED FORTUNES FOR IT FIRMS

Despite showing strong growth in terms of revenue, software engineering services provider Aztecsoft today posted a net loss of Rs 9.29 crore for the first quarter ended June 2008 in the wake of foreign exchange losses due to the rupee depreciation.
In the first quarter of FY08, the company had posted a net profit of Rs 5.7 crore. The revenue of the company grew by 30 per cent year-on-year to Rs 76.77 crore on the back of a strong demand from existing clients.
Patni Q2 profit down 23%
Forex loss, slower growth from the North American markets and a dip in revenue from large customers dented Patni Computer Systems' net income by 23 per cent.

Though the results were in line with expectations, they remained flat for the last four quarters, said analysts. Its net income for the second quarter ended June 2008 touched Rs 103.7 crore from Rs 134.7 crore last year.
Kale net doubles to Rs 3.6 cr
Kale Consultants reported a more than double consolidated net profit to Rs 3.64 crore compared with Rs 1.38 crore in the corresponding quarter last financial year. Its consolidated revenue of Rs 32.6 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, was up 41 per cent as compared to Rs 23 crore last year.
NIIT Q1 net rises 10%
Computer-education company NIIT's quarterly consolidated profit rose by 10 per cent, helped by strong growth in enrolments and bulk orders in the period, its chief executive officer said on Thursday. Between April and June, NIIT got Rs 500 crore worth of new orders, Vijay Thadani told a news conference.
Zensar profit surges 85%
Zensar Technologies reported a net profit (consolidated) growth of 85 per cent following a high utilisation rate, forex gain and increasing focus on its solutions offering and emerging markets. Net profit for the quarter was Rs 24.73 crore from Rs 13.35 crore in the last year.
Info Edge Q1 net up 11.2%
City-based IT firm Info Edge posted a 11.2 per cent rise in net profit after tax at Rs 12.9 crore (Rs 11.6 crore) for the first quarter ended June 2008. Total income went up by 29.2 per cent to Rs 67.1 crore. The company has three online properties
