Balrampur Chini, Emami & Madras Cements Q3 results

Balrampur Chini reports net loss of Rs 6 lakh
 
India's second-biggest sugar maker, Balrampur Chini has reported a net loss of Rs 6 lakh for the third quarter ended 31st December 2007 on a standalone basis.
 
Kolkata-based company had a profit of Rs 19.18 crore in the quarter of the last year it said in a statement to the National Stock Exchange today.
 
Net sales for the company increased by 27 percent at Rs 427.46 crore for the quarter as against net sales of Rs 337.1 crore for the quarter ended 31st December 2006.
 
Emami bottomline soars 48% to Rs 37 crore
 
FMCG major Emami has recorded a growth of 48 per cent in net profit to touch Rs 37.3 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007. Its sales grew by 13 per cent to touch Rs 196 crore while EBIDTA grew by 55 per cent during the quarter to touch Rs 42 crore.
 
For the nine months ending December 31, 2007, the turnover has increased by 11 per cent while net profit and EBIDTA grew by 35 per cent and 42 per cent respectively.
 
Madras Cements posts 62.4 per cent rise in net profit
 
Madras Cements has posted 62.4 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 110.65 crore for the third quarter of fiscal 2008 ended December 31, 2008, compared to Rs 68.12 crore in the corresponding quarter a year earlier. Net sales during the quarter increased 31 per cent to Rs 512.38 crore from Rs 391 crore a year earlier.
 
Expenditure outgo was mainly slashed with tight control on raw material costs, inventories and stock positions, and employee costs.
