Big Bazaar enters Haryana market
The company plans to open 45 retail outlets in the next 10 months

| Big Bazaar, the value retailing chain of Pantaloon (India) Limited, began its foray in Haryana by opening an outlet in Ambala Cantonment. |
| This was the company's 30th retail outlet and they propose to open 45 Big Bazaars in the next 10 months, which would entail an investment of about Rs 300 crore. |
| Spread across 35,000 sq feet, Big Bazaar at Ambala would provide its customers with a wide range of products at never-before prices. |
| Products in every category ranging from apparel to accessories for men, women and children, stationery, toys, footwear, plastics, home care products like bed and bath linen, home appliances, gift articles, food and grocery would be available. |
| Talking to Business Standard, Head, Big Bazaar, Rajan Malhotra said small town had a latent potential for retail players. The company chose Ambala over Chandigarh because it got encouraging results from similar experiments in other states. |
| Malhotra said Punjab was very much on their radar and they would enter Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Zirakpur in a couple of months. |
| He added that the property market was over heated in Punjab, so they were waiting for the right time. |
| He indicated that all 160,000 products in Big Bazaar would be available at prices lower than the maximum retail price, often at a discount of up to 60 per cent. In addition to this, various offers, discounts and promotions were regularly held at the store. |
| Food Bazaar offers household items like grains and provisions, fruits and vegetables, confectionery, beverages, dairy products, fabric care products, frozen foods, home care products, accessories, kitchen linen, kitchen products, personal care products, ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat products, spices and pickles at wholesale prices. |
| Big Bazaar also has Furniture Bazaar, Electronics Bazaar and Mbazaar, which will offer a wide range of GSM and CDMA mobile phones, accessories, VAS options and fixed line telephones. |
