Bombay Dyeing net profit up 271%

Bombay Dyeing today reported 271 per cent jump in its net profit to Rs 26.3 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2005, from Rs 7.1 crore in the same period last year. The company's net sales rose 4.6 per cent to Rs 269 crore from Rs 257 crore.

The textile company registered gross sales of Rs 296 crore in the third quarter of FY06, indicating 3.49 per cent rise from Rs 286 crore in the same quarter of FY05. The total income was up 4.5 per cent at Rs 273 crore from Rs 261 crore in the corresponding period of the last financial year.

The company's gross profit galloped 106 per cent in the third quarter of FY06 to Rs 31 crore from Rs 15 crore in the same period last year. In the same period, its operating profit grew 112 per cent to Rs 34 crore from Rs 16 crore.

Earnings per share zoomed 277 per cent to Rs 6.81 in the December 2005 quarter, from Rs 1.86 crore in the same period last year.
