CII forum inks MoU with Reddy's Foundation

BS Reporter Chennai/ Hyderabad
Young Indians (Yi), a forum started by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), has signed an MoU with Dr Reddy's Foundation to provide livelihood advancement training.

The objective of the MoU is to provide young adults from economically weak backgrounds an opportunity to assimilate into the competitive job market and help them acquire the required livelihood and social skills, said Sivakumar Jayaraman, chapter chair of Young Indians (Yi), Hyderabad chapter, after the screening of Poojita Chowdhury's short film 'Gender Bender' in Hyderabad on Friday.

Yi, in association with Dr Reddy's Foundation, has identified four projects this year and of them the first to start will be on 'women drivers', according to G Anuradha Prasad, managing trustee of Dr Reddy's Foundation.

"Under this, economically backward women will be trained in driving skills and will be helped in getting placement as drivers or start their own travel agency," she said.

After a feasibility study by Dr Reddy's Foundation, a focus group meeting was conducted which included BPOs, hotel and travel industry representatives along with the joint commissioner of RTA to get inputs of what the industry needs in the programme.

The identification of the driving institute and the beneficiaries is under way and the training for women drivers is expected to start in two weeks, she added.
