Cognizant ties up with US firm

BS Reporter Chennai
Cognizant Technology Services, a leading IT services and solutions provider, has inked a multi-million dollar agreement with American consumer products giant Kimberly-Clark Corporation for SAP support and tech applications development.

Even as it services out the deal over a period of five years, partly out of Kimberly-Clark's captive centre in Buenos Aires, Cognizant will actively expand its operations in Latin America, said R Chandrasekaran, president and managing director, Cognizant.

While co-managing Kimberly-Clark's one-year-old captive operation in Buenos Aires under the agreement, Cognizant will simultaneously expand its presence there and grow the centre.

"We expect approximately 100 people to be working in Buenos Aires initially," Chandrasekaran said.

Chennai-headquartered Cognizant has approximately 7,000 professionals in North America, about 1,000 professionals in Europe and about 30,000 professionals in India.

Under the agreement, Cognizant will deliver its services to Kimberly-Clark out of its North American, European, Indian and Latin American operations.

Cognizant officials did not disclose the specific financial terms governing the contract.
