Concor earns Rs 53cr revenues in FY06

| Container Corporation of India Limited (Concor) garnered revenues of Rs 53 crore from its Vizag operations in 2005-06, as compared to Rs 28 crore in the previous year, reflecting a growth of 89 per cent. |
| According to sources from the Concor Vizag office, the corporation handled more high-paying commodities in 2005-06, which resulted in a significant increase in revenues. |
| "Domestic traffic contributed Rs 44.65 crore to Concor's total revenues as compared to Rs 19.38 crore in 2004-05, registering a growth of about 130 per cent," sources said, adding that the corporation was expecting close to Rs 75-crore revenues from its Vizag operations, including revenues from the container freight station (CFS) operations. |
| Concor transported 21,510 containers (both domestic and exim cargo containers) from the Vizag port in 2005-06, as compared to 23,652 containers in the preceding year, recording a growth of 57 per cent. |
| It has recently completed the construction of the Rs 10-crore CFS near the Vizag port. During 2006-07, it is aiming to handle around 5,000 container boxes and garner Rs 3 crore revenues from the CSF operations. |
| This apart, Concor is planning to introduce regular container train services to major cities to earn more revenues. |
| Concor currently operates regular container rail services on full-load to Thuglakabad from Visakhapatnam. It offers container train services to other parts of the country, on demand. |
| "We plan to launch regular container train services from Vizag to Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata this year," sources said. |
