Dunlop inducts 1202 workmen

| Dunlop India Limited has inducted 1202 workmen as permanent employees in its Sahaganj unit. |
| The workmen were former workers of the company, and all were on the company's rolls when the former management under the Chhabria family closed down the plant. |
| It was taken over by Pawan Kumar Ruia, also promoter of Jessop, The Ruia management, in its agreement with the trade unions, had committed to take in only 1179 workmen. |
| However, considering the immediate growth plans for the Sahaganj unit, the management decided to increase the number to 1236 after completing absorption of the agreed 1179, the Ruia group said in a statement. |
| Taking casual workers into account, the company's Sahaganj unit was now providing livelihood to over 1600 workers. |
| The Sahaganj plant started operations seven days a week from last Sunday, October 14. |
| Commenting on the development, Ruia, as chairman of Dunlop, said, "We would like to see Dunlop operating 24 hours a day and 7 days a week." |
| On October 14, Sahaganj also witnessed daylong walk-in interviews for technical positions at various levels of the plant. |
| Out of the 1000-odd candidates interviewed on that day, 81 candidates had already been issued appointment letters, while a further 170 had been selected for absorption in phases in the next few weeks. |
