Durham School ties up with Infinity group

BS Reporter Kolkata

More than six centuries old independent school of UK Durham School has formed a joint venture with city based Infinity Group and it is planning to open at least five schools in the next three years. The joint venture is named as Durham Infinity International School where the Infinity Group and the Durham School of Trading has equal stake. The JV was formed in November 2012.

According to Ravindra Chamaria, group chairman of Infinity Group, each school will see an investment of around Rs 100 crore.

“We have visited several locations like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa Jaipur and will do a minimum of five schools in th next three to five years. We might do more than this as well,” he said.He pointed out that the joint venture company might build the properties or they may use the franchise model to provide management to a developer who builds the property. “We are keeping both the options open,” he added.

So far, inordinate delays in Foreign Educational Institutions (Regulations of Entry and Operations) Bill had prompted foreign educational institutions to put their India campus plans on the backburner but this might get the ball rolling for more foreign institutions to set up schools in the country.

Chamaria claimed that the school will have one the best facilities in the country and are looking to raise the standard of school education in th country. Each school is expected to have a seating capacity of around 700 to 1100.
