GE Healthcare launches portable ECG machine

Healthcare major GE Healthcare has launched its portable ECG machine, MAC 400.
 
According to the company, the ECG machine is simple to use as does not need too much training and makes diagnosis faster and easier. The company said that would target rural markets and the primary healthcare sector with the product.
 
GE also said they were working on a number of new products on the X-ray, cardiology and ultrasound platforms. The company is planning to launch two new products by the end of this year.
 
"The product runs on battery, it is easy to use and one can carry it around. So we think we can increase our market penetration with the product," GE Healthcare South Asia president and CEO V Raja said.
 
The company said that they had aggressive plans for growth in India, which included adding over a hundred employees to their headcount of 2,200 in India. It had added 500 people last year. According to Raja, they are also doing clinical trials with Manipal Hospital on imaging agents for diagnosis in oncology, neurology and cardiology.
 
Raja said the company was looking at a double digit growth in sales and exports this year. About 15 per cent of the company's global manufacturing is done in India, and this has more than doubled from 7 per cent in the last 4-5 years.
 
The company would also increase work on radio pharmacy from India.
