Haier plans assembly unit, R&D centre in India

| Global home appliances brand, Haier is planning to set up an assembly unit as well as a research and development centre in India. |
| T K Banerjee, president and chief executive officer (CEO), Haier Appliances (India) said that the company was planning to establish an assembly unit for colour televisions over the next six months. |
| At present, Haier was operating out of two leased factories. The new company owned factory would have a capacity for one million units. |
| However, the location was yet to be finalised, said Banerjee. Investment in the assembly plant would be $3-5 million. Haier would also launch a research and development unit in India. |
| Haier has manufacturing facilities spread across 13 countries including US, Europe, Africa, west and south east Asia and of course China. The company's sales and marketing network covers 166 countries. |
| Banerjee said, "It is our mission at Haier to provide quality products and services at par with international standards which we follow world over to our valued customers in India." |
| As part of this efforts, Haier today inaugurated its first exclusive showroom in eastern India, Planet Haier. |
| Planet Haier would showcase Haier's entire range of home appliances available in the Indian market. These include Haier colour televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, microwave ovens, clothesdryers, dishwashers, DVD players and home theatre systems. |
| Banerjee said, "Through our two exclusive Planet haier showroom in eastern India, we hope to further strengthen our presence in this region and build stronger relationships with our customers." |
| With the inauguration of the two Plant Haier showrooms in Kolkata, the company today has five such showrooms in the country and plans to add 15 such showrooms by the end of the fiscal. |
