Halogen free cables from GRC

G R Cables (GRC) has developed Halogen free cables that will help the company achive complete backward integration and realize higher margins. Claimed to be the first such product in the country, the cables do not burn easily and the fumes are also much less and does not cause any damage to human beings, a release said.

These cables are much superior to ordinary PVC cables and the company expects a huge demand for these cables as the government and railways are making it mandatory to use only zero halogen cables in public facilities as inhalation of electrical fumes generated by burning of electrical wires is fatal.

The company had earlier developed an engineering plastic compound for use in automotive component manufacture and industrial applications. The compounds will provide 20 per cent cost advantage compared to the imported compounds, the release added.
