| HCC net dips 17% |
| Infrastructure major Hindustan Construction Company's (HCC) net profit declined by 17 per cent at Rs 36.37 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2007, compared with Rs 43.81 crore posted in the same quarter last year. The decline was due to withdrawal of section 80 IA benefit with retrospective effect, the company said. |
| The company reported a 9 per cent increase in turnover at Rs 847.57 crore for the fourth quarter of FY 06-07 compared with Rs 775.10 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The company's net for the whole year ended March 31, 2007 also went down by 14 per cent at Rs 79.28 crore compared with Rs 92.14 crore in the previous year. |
| Deccan Chronicle posts profit of Rs 25.59 cr |
| Deccan Chronicle Holdings, the publisher of the English daily Deccan Chronicle, has posted a net profit growth of over 250 per cent at Rs 25.59 crore in the fourth quarter, compared with Rs 10.11 crore for the corresponding period of 2005-06. The company's net sales witnessed a 64.86 per cent growth to Rs 147.55 crore from Rs 89.50 crore in Q4 FY06. Earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter stood at Rs 1.09 (face value of Rs 2) compared with Rs 2.45 (Rs 10 face value) in Q4 FY06. |
| Going forward, Deccan Chronicle expects its revenue for the FY08 to be in the range of Rs 750-800 crore and EPS to grow to Rs 11-12 during the period. The company has also announced an increase in advertising tariff by 30 per cent with effect from May-end. The media company's annual net profit for the year ended March 31, 2007 stood at Rs 161.57 crore, a 138 per cent increase as against Rs 67.87 crore in 2005-06. The net sales during the year grew by 67 per cent to Rs 552.78 crore from Rs 330.88 crore in 2005-06. Earnings per share for FY07 stood at Rs 7.51 (face value of Rs 2) compared with Rs 16.46 (Rs 10 face value) in FY06. |
| CRISIL Group's net profit up 103 per cent |
| CRISIL Group, a leading rating, research, risk and political advisory company, has posted a net profit of Rs 18.09 crore for the first quarter ended March 31, 2007, as against Rs 8.92 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 103 per cent. |
| The group's consolidated total income for the first quarter ended March 31, 2007 was Rs 90.72 crore, an increase of 59 per cent as against Rs 56.98 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. CRISIL Group's income from operations for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 was Rs 89.32 crore as against Rs 53.80 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. |
| Brushman posts profit of Rs 1.82 crore |
| Brushman India has announced a net profit of Rs 1.82 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2007, a 465 per cent increase compared with Rs 32.2 lakhs registered for the corresponding quarter in 2006. The net sales for the period stood at Rs 16.22 crore, 102 per cent higher when compared to Rs 8.01 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. |
