Infinera to double India headcount

Our Bureau Chennai/ Bangalore
Infinera, an optical networking company, is planning to increase the capacity of its facility in Bangalore and raise headcount from the present 100 to 200.

"As a result of the increasing demand for Infinera's products, we are adding to our team of highly qualified and senior professionals," said Utkarsh Rai, managing director, Infinera India.

Infinera India has also indicated broadening its offerings by taking on more application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), hardware development and verification work in addition to the software development and system testing.

In addition, the company is planning to open a new customer testing facility to complement its existing system verification labs, a company release said.

The company said its growth is propelled by the strong demand for the Infinera DTN, an optical system that combines in one platform scalable dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) transport, reconfigurable switching capability, and GMPLS-based service intelligence.

"We have built a world-class leading-edge R&D centre in India that has enabled us to ship an industry-leading platform since the first release with innovative hardware, and embedded and network management software in a short time," said Sudhanshu Verma, VP software, Infinera.
