JK group launches toffee in Agra

| After tyres, cement, paper, and dairy products, Rs 4,000-crore JK Group is set to make a big splash in the confectionary market. |
| JK Dairy & Food Ltd, the JK group company dealing in the production and marketing of dairy products like skimmed milk powder and ghee, recently struck a tie-up with Hyderabad-based Sempré Nutrition Ltd and the product of this tie-up--"Sempré Toffee"--was launched in Agra on Monday. |
| Talking to mediapersons on this occasion, Amit Francis, chief general manager (sales), JK Group, said the confectionaries launched by the group would continue to bear the brand name Sempré because this was a condition both the companies agreed upon while signing the agreement. |
| Also, he said, this company was the first Indian confectionary firm to have been granted ISO 9001 & HACCP certification and its products would bear the same hallmark of quality that was usually associated with the JK group products. |
| According to B K Gurbani, chairman, Sempre Nutirion Ltd., the Sempré confectionary products had been kept in the medium price range keeping in mind the fact that a majority of Indian children still lived in the rural environment and did not get to buy the high-end products manufactured by other companies and instead, bought locally-made confectionaries that, besides being manufactured in unhygienic conditions, were also not worth the money, quality-wise. |
| Sempré toffees have been targeted to capture this untapped market that was currently being exploited by the unorganised confectionary segment. |
