Jolen expands product portfolio

American cosmetics firm Jolen, which sold its cream bleach and hair removing kit till now, has expanded its product portfolio by launching personal skin care products like cold cream, moisturiser and hair gel.

Kundan Care Products will package and sell the products through a 15-year licensing agreement with Jolen, the 50-year-old firm. Jolen claims to be the pioneer in skin bleachcream.

From November 2004-March 2005, Kundan has sold Rs 8 crore worth of Jolen products. On the basis of its performance till now, Kundan hopes to see its sales grow to Rs 25 crore annually. Over another year "we will perhaps see three times present revenues", said R Bakshi, general manager (marketing), Kundan Care Products, the firm that imports and distributes Jolen's products.

Kundan Care, which has a Rs 2 crore plant for processing and packing the imported raw materials, says it will expand the capacity of its Uttaranchal plant at a cost of Rs 5 crore over the next two years.

Bakshi said the company will price its products competitively within the premium segment of the cosmetics market.
