Jurong to prepare master plan for Info Valley

The Info-valley, spread over 600 acres of land, is being developed jointly by Idco and Infosys

The state government has selected Singapore-based Jurong Consultants to prepare master plan for the Info-valley project to pull investors in IT and ITes sector.

"The government is pleased to accord the approval for engagement of Jurong Consultants Pte. Ltd, Singapore for preparation of the master plan of Info-valley project," P K Dash, joint secretary, state industries department, wrote to chairman cum managing director, Idco (Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation).

The Info-valley, spread over 600 acres of land, is being developed jointly by Idco and IT major, Infosys, which has been allotted 50 acres of land in the proposed IT park to set up its second campus in the city. The construction work for this campus is currently on.
 

Sources said, Jurong will prepare the master plan in four months after the issue of work order.

In first two months, Jurong will prepare vision plan with two alternative layouts and in the next two months, it will submit the final conceptual plan.

Uma Maheswaran, chief executive officer of Jurong Corporation for India, had made a presentation before the state officials. Jurong Corporation had stated that it has the experience of implementing around 1,600 projects in 142 cities across 39 countries.

About 160 acres have been earmarked in the proposed Info-valley for hardware units and about 260 acres for IT and ITes units. The complex will also have commercial spaces, open spaces, incubation centres etc.

The development of Info-valley assumes significance as it comes within the proposed IT investment region (ITIR) to be developed on an area of 40 sq km (around 10,000 acres) between Bhubaneswar and Khurda. The implementation of the proposed ITIR will involve a cost of Rs 17,883 crore. Recently, the department of information technology has finalised the offer for preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for setting up Electronic Manufacturer Cluster at Info-valley.
