Khazana Stores to foray into clothing

BS Reporter Mumbai/ Ahmedabad
Khazana Stores, which runs outlets of in-house leather accessories, plans to create its own line of clothing.

Presently, the outlets offer leather accessories under the brand 'Khazana' and also other specialty clothing of brands like 'Color Plus' and the recently launched 'Canary Blue'.

The Ahmedabad-based chain of stores also plans to increase its presence in the western part of the country.

"We will be setting up 10 outlets in the western region of the country by 2010. We are, meanwhile, looking forward to coming up with our own line of clothing. Presently, we are selling our own leather products, apart from outside brand of clothing," said Vijay Chandrani, Managing Director, Khazana Stores.

The new line of clothing will be a luxurious high-end men's wear. Khazana Store has tied up with a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) faculty, Ismail Memon, for designing and production of the clothes.

Presently, the company has a turnover of Rs 4 crore from its two existing outlets in the city, of which 50 per cent comes from its own leather accessories. Chandrani expects to earn a turnover of Rs 7 crore in fiscal 2007-08, after three more outlets in Ahmedabad and Vadodara are opened this year.

Gradually, the company would open more outlets in Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Jaipur, Surat and Rajkot. The company will be mostly looking to open stores at malls, added Chandrani.

"Initially we will be introducing only men's wear and would later move into women's wear. Our clothes will be priced around Rs 1,500-2,500 and will be marketed as high-end luxurious range of clothes," informed Chandrani.
