Kolkata heritage walk on the cards

Voiceworx, a socio-event management company formed in 2004, will host 'The Heritage Hunt', a hunt to unravel the historic heritages of Kolkata, in an attempt to get back to the roots of the city as well as help Cancer Foundation of India (CFI) to create awareness among the citizens on ways to control cancer.

Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and Kolkata Police (KP) have acknowledged the effort of the organisers and have associated with the event. HUNTAGE - The Heritage Hunt - is designed on the lines of a treasure hunt with clues which leads to the treasure- the heritage of Kolkaya.

The event is based on hunting select heritage points and understanding of the culture and cuisines of Kolkata better. As the game would progress, an understanding of the evolution of the city will be established.

HUNTAGE will also try to explore the roots and remnants of the various communities that called Kolkata home, which would include Portuguese, Armenians, Jains, Parsis, Islam, Eurasian community of Anglo-Indians, the business communities of the Gujaratis and the Marwaris.

The participating teams will consist of educational institutions, clubs and companies, corporate teams, foreign nationals, families, groups, senior citizens amongst others.

All the teams will require a vehicle and a maximum of four participants in each team. Around 50-100 teams are expected to register, hunting down nearly 15 heritage sites on a vehicle and on foot within five hours.
