"The students would learn the means to exploit the invitation space, transaction space and the information space in retail to provide the right experience for customers," said Atul Tandan, director, Mica.

The programme includes internships with member companies of RAI, which will provide ample opportunities to the students to understand the science of visual merchandising and creative communication practically.

After the programme, each participant will have a portfolio of drawings and photographs of projects he or she has designed and executed.

Graduates will be prepared for vacancies in department stores, speciality stores, and boutiques as visual merchandisers, window trimmers, and freelance artists, said Tandan.

Addressing the students while inaugurating the programme, Gibson G Vedamani, CEO, RAI, added, "The students have made the right career choice and they will help fill the talent gap in visual merchandising in the retail sector today.

Creative concepts and innovative methods of visual merchandising will only give a retail organisation the required competitive edge to excel.
