Nicholas Piramal bottom line dips

Nicholas Piramal India (NPIL) has posted 28 per cent drop in net profit to Rs 26.9 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 compared with Rs 37.5 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006. Total income was Rs 645.21 crore during the period against Rs 433.16 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006.
 
For the full year ended March 31, 2007, the company recorded a net profit of Rs 188.2 crore compared with Rs 170.3 crore last year. Total income (net of excise) has increased from Rs 1449 crore for the year ended March 31, 2006 to Rs 1,640 crore in FY07.
 
The company said the consolidated results for the current quarter and the year ended March 31, 2007 are not strictly comparable with the results of the corresponding previous period and the full year as they include the operations of NPIL's acquired subsidiaries in the UK and Canada, operations of Nicholas Piramal Consumer Products and its diagnostics services arm Phadke Pathology and Infertility Center.
