Novo Nordisk launches campaign

In an effort to take diabetes screening to the grassroots, Novo Nordisk, the global healthcare firm, has launched 'Improve Control Mobile Clinic', a global initiative to educate patients on diabetes.
"Mobile clinic is a van designed to deliver diabetes detection and treatment facilitation at the doorstep in rural areas. It is equipped with blood-glucose monitoring systems, weight check and body mass index platforms and patient education," said Melvin D'souza, managing director, Novo Nordisk India.
The first van is set to roll out in Bangalore on a pilot basis in the first phase and would cover towns and cities in a 150-km radius in three months. Later, it will be extended to other parts of the state.
In the final phase, four cities "" Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and Kolkata "" would be covered. The company has set a target to screen 10 million (rural-city population in the ratio of 60:40) people by 2008.
