Software products and technology services provider, Persistent Systems today announced its investment in US-based Hyginex, which uses patented wearable technology and sensors in healthcare facilities to help doctors and nurses improve hand hygiene practices.
The investment through Persistent Venture Fund allows Hyginex to expand its operations in the US.
This would be third investment made by the venture fund set up by Persistent Systems.
Better hand hygiene has proven to reduce preventable infections in healthcare facilities. Every year in the US, there are 1.7 million healthcare associated infections that result in close to 100,000 patient deaths.
"Hyginex's unique approach based on innovative wearable technology protects patients in hospitals and improves global healthcare," said Sridhar Jagannathan, Chief Innovation Officer, Persistent Systems, and Head of the Persistent Venture Fund. "To this investment in Hyginex, Persistent brings its expertise and focus on emerging medical technologies," he added.
