Rare neurological surgery

In a first-of-of-its kind case in Odisha, the doctors of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) have achieved a rare success by operating a complex brain operation. The patient whose brain was operated, had one bone in his skull missing and his brain matter was flowing out in the form of the cerebro-spinal fluid . The muscular tissue covering the affected area of the brain was also missing. The doctors, during the operation, took a portion of fat from the abdomen region of the patient and transplanted it in the affected area of the head and covered the injury. The patient is stable now and ready to be discharged from the hospital. The complex surgery took place last week and Dr. K.B.Das, joint director In-charge of neurosurgery, IGH, along with his team carried out the operation.
