Scorpio sales touch 25,000 units by Oct

Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) sold 25,000 units of Scorpio by October end in the current fiscal year 2006-07, which include export of 3,000 units.
 
The sale of Scorpio is expected to touch 45,000 units by the end of the current fiscal, according to sources.
 
Mahindra &Mahindra's state-of-the art Scorpio manufacturing facility is located in Satpur areas of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in Nashik. Currently, the manufacturing capacity of the plant is 130 units per day.
 
M&M sold 33,882 Scorpio vehicles in the fiscal year 2005-06, a rise of 17.35 per cent, compared with the previous fiscal year which was at 28,872 units.
 
M&M had stopped manufacturing of old model of Scorpio in February 2006 and commenced operations for the upgraded model in March 2006, with added features including new suspension and styling elements.
 
Around 5,000 units of Scorpio were sold within a month after the launch of the new model. The company had invested Rs 30 crore to upgrade the model. M&M has so far invested around Rs 650 crore in the Scorpio plant.
