Shrachi to build Bardhaman township

BS Reporter Kolkata
Kolkata-based Shrachi Burdwan Developers Pvt Ltd will develop a satellite township, namely Renaissance, spread over 256 acres, on the outskirts of Barddhaman town.

The foundation stone for the project was laid down by Nirupam Sen, minister for commerce and industries, West Bengal and the chairman of the Burdwan Development Authority (BDA).

Formed in 2002, the BDA is a statutory authority under the Government of West Bengal, formed with the vision of developing Barddhaman as an ideal destination for industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Sen said BDA was planning to develop more township projects in Barddhaman to avoid unplanned growth of the city.

Renaissance would be a comprehensive township with a wide range of residential, retail, administrative, health and educational facilities to cater to both the residents in Barddhaman and the surrounding region.

An administrative centre, a town square with facilities like " commercial buildings, banks and financial institutions, community centre and a recreation club are among the several amenities that will be incorporated in the project to serve both residents and neighboring community.

The recreation club will have banquet hall, gymnasium, tennis court, kids' zone, swimming pool and other facilities.

The phase 1 of the township was expected to be completed by 2010 and accommodate over 40,000 people.

The project was designed by the Delhi-based Morphogenesis architecture studio.

According to Rahul Todi, MD of Shrachi Group, said, "Shrachi's realty division has always been pivotal in catering houses to the mass & class. We are proud to develop a township like Renaissance that would bring back the lost glory of the province".

Shrachi was also coming up with a 7,000 sq.ft. school called Shiv Kumar Harijan Balika Vidyalaya near the project at an investment of Rs 50 lakh.

Shrachi Burdwan Developers was a part of the Rs 1,000 crore Shrachi Group.
