Stalled projects to start coal production by December 2016

With three major rail line projects in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha to see light of the day soon, Nation's coal production capacity would enhance by 35 million tonne per annum (MTPA) by December 2016.

The Project Monitoring Group (PMG), constituted under the Cabinet Secretariat to monitor pending projects, both public and private, had revived the 93-km Tori-Shivpur-Kathautia line in Jharkhand, 53 km Jharsuguda-Barpalli-Sardega line in Ib valley of Odisha and 180 km Bhupdevpur-Korichapar-Dharamjaigarh line in Chhattisgarh.

The rail lines would facilitate transporting coal from the untapped areas in three states.
