Videocon buys Thomson's picture tube biz

Videocon Group through its off shore entity has acquired Thomson's colour picture tube manufacturing business for euro 240 million.

The group proposes to fund the acquistion on stand-alone basis by accessing domestic international debt/equity market, Videcon International informed the BSE today.

The company holds 19% equity in the offshore acquisition vehicle.

Thomson will put euro 15 million in the equity capital of the company, subject to all necessary approval, it added.
