After offering data benefits and free calls, Vodafone India has launched another series of offers to woo its high-value postpaid customers.

Vodafone, India's second largest telecom services provider by subscriber base, on Thursday rolled out the Vodafone RED plan, which caters to the people who are travelling frequently and have high usage for voice calls and data. The plan, spread across six price points between Rs 499 and Rs 1,999, provides roaming benefits, free calling and cheaper data.

For instance, for Rs 1,999, postpaid customers can get unlimited roaming, unlimited voice calling and 8 GB data. A variant of this plan is also available for Rs 1,699 offering free roaming (incoming calls only), unlimited voice calling and 6 GB data. Vodafone RED also includes a series of entry-level postpaid plans priced at Rs 499, Rs 699 and Rs 999 which provide double data benefits and attractive talktime.

Earlier this month, Vodafone came out with a scheme to provide 10-minute free calling to customers whose calls are interrupted because of any reason.

"Vodafone RED is an all-in-one postpaid plan designed exclusively for high-value postpaid customers, whose needs are rapidly evolving with the increasing use of smartphones, mobile internet and apps," the company said.

"The postpaid customer's usage behaviour has evolved significantly, with higher usage of roaming and data. With the Vodafone RED, there is no more holding back - we are offering our postpaid customers an all-in-one plan that addresses their roaming, data and voice needs comprehensively," said Sandeep Kataria, director-commercial, Vodafone India. "The built in quotas with value added benefits like priority access and a virtual relationship manager, make the Vodafone RED experience truly worry-free and delightful."

This comes as most of the telecommunication companies (telcos) start offering additional voice and data benefits ahead of the launch of services by Reliance Jio Infocomm. Top three telcos — Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular — have reduced data tariffs by up to 67 per cent since last month.

The Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio is expected to launch services in a couple of months, and telcos are trying to hold on to customers through benefits. Reliance Jio has 1.5 million test users with average monthly consumption of 26 GB data and 355 minutes voice.
