Zicom eyes Rs 330 crore from consumer service

Zicom Electronic Security Systems Limited is eyeing revenues of Rs 330 crore from consumer service group by 2008-09. In this regard, the company is planning to launch a video monitoring service in June and biometric devices for home segment in October this year.
 
Addressing the media, Santonu Choudhury, chief executive officer (consumer service group), Zicom Electronic Security Systems Ltd, said, "The Indian consumer service group market for security systems is estimated to be around Rs 250 crore at present. It is projected to grow to Rs 700 crore by 2008-09. We estimate that our revenues in this segment will be Rs 330 crore then." On the whole, the company plans to touch the Rs 500-crore mark by 2008-09.
 
This year, the company plans to clock revenues of Rs 100 crore from consumer service group by acquiring one lakh customers. Zicom will be expanding its reach to 100 towns via 600 stores in three years. The investment for retail expansion is estimated to be Rs 72 crore-Rs 90 crore.
 
With regard to video monitoring service, Choudhury said that this service would help them capture images of intruders as well. Choudhury was in Hyderabad to launch their security system for home and business segments. These products come with an insurance cover from Iffco-Tokio up to Rs 3 lakh for burglary.
 
Meanwhile, Choudhury added that the company was planning to start manufacturing operations in India and had acquired land in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.
 
"The financial feasibility study should be over by December this year," he said. At present, Zicom imports its products from Taiwan and Korea.
