DATA STORY: With 4,454 deaths in a day, India's Covid fatality tops 300,000

India has so far administered 196,051,962 vaccine doses. That is 753.12 per cent of its total caseload, and 14.08 per cent of its population

India on Monday reported a net reduction of 84,683 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 2,720,716. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 17.64 per cent (one in 5). The country is second among the most affected countries by active cases. On Monday, it added 222,315 cases to take its total caseload to 26,752,447. And, with 4,454 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 303,720, or 1.14 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 942,722 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on Sunday, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 196,051,962.
