"So far 2,800 institutes have opted for the national rankings. These rankings will encourage institutes to compete with each other. However, rankings are not substitutes for accreditation," said Vinay Sheel Oberoi, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, MHRD at the National Human Resource Management Summit organized by All India Management Association (AIMA).
While the national rankings will overcome some infirmities of the global rankings which include very few Indian institutes, Indian institutes should still aspire for global rankings, he added.
The ranking framework is designed such that institutions belonging to different sectoral fields such as Engineering, Management etc. will be compared separately in their own respective peer groups. The parameters are under the five broad headings namely, teaching learning and resources, research, consulting and collaborative performance, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity and perception.
