The Supreme Court on Monday terminated the Committee of Administrators (CoA), the panel appointed by the apex court last year to run the All India Football Federation (AIFF), a week after the Federation of International Football (FIFA) suspended the AIFF. The SC added that it hopes the termination of CoA will help facilitate the revocation of FIFA's ban on the AIFF. 

Scores of farmers are protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Monday against several issues, including unemployment, and pending demands. The Delhi Police has increased security at the Ghazipur, Singhu, and Tikri borders due to the 'mahapanchayat' called by farmer bodies. Earlier in the day, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, on his way to Jantar Mantar, was detained by police personnel at the Ghazipur border and was then taken to Madhu Vihar police station.

"Russia's FSB identified and detained a member of the Islamic State international terrorist organization banned in Russia, a native of a country in the Central Asian region, who planned to commit a terrorist act by blowing himself up against one of the representatives of the ruling circles of India," the authority said in a statement.

FIFA ban on AIFF: Centre urges Supreme Court to end tenure of CoA

Days after FIF banned AIFF, The Centre urges Supreme Court to end the tenure of Committee of Administrators (CoA) and direct that day-to-day management of AIFF be looked after by the AIFF administration led by the acting Secretary General. The central government has requested the Supreme Court to pass an order to direct the CoA to submit the final draft constitution for the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to the Court by the end of August 23 and that the mandate of the CoA be declared to be over in full from that day.
