'Beach tourism' gets fillip

Beach tourism in Udupi today got a boost with the inauguration of two boat houses in the back waters of the Arabian Sea along the Malpe Coast, near Hoode.

C Somashekara, Director, Tourism Department, Karnataka State informed that promotion of bach tourism had been on the top of the Centre's agenda which had allocated Rs 6.4 crore to develop eight beaches in the 'Integrated beach circuit' category, Rs 3.5 crore for eco-tourism and Rs 6.5 crore for the northern circuit in the state.

The 'boat house' enterprise has been promoted by Paradise Club & Resorts.
