Foreign exchange earning criteria relaxed for electronics hardware

The government has accorded 100 per cent depreciation in three years for all IT products and peripherals in the new Exim Policy. It has also allowed companies to donate IT products, two years after their import, without any import duty liabilities under the modified EOU/EHTP/STP schemes.

Special emphasis has been given to the export of electronic hardware. Sales of IT products, listed under the ITA-1 and manufactured in EOU/EHTP/SEZs, have now been allowed to be considered towards the fulfillment of the net foreign exchange earnings (NFE) criteria. Also, their sales in the DTA have been permitted only at full rate of duty, Customs and other local levies.
