Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has unveiled developed projects worth about Rs 6,000 crore, especially in the road infrastructure sector. The UP State Highways Authority would develop 4 important road links in the state under the public-private partnership (PPP) model at an investment of Rs 5,305 crore. These include the Delhi-Saharanpur-Yamunotri road, Varanasi-Shanktinagar road, Meerut-Karnal road and Bareilly-Almoda-Bageshwar road (all within state borders).
Yadav also launched state portal of 8 departments to provide e-delivery of public services. Besides, Janeshwar Mishra Gram Yojana estimated at Rs 250 crore for rural development was unveiled.
Other projects included 3 special mandis, 111 rural infrastructure centres and 9 agricultural marketing hubs under state agricultural marketing board (Mandi Parishad) at a cost of Rs 435 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Yadav stressed on road infrastructure by saying it was well acknowledged by economists that ‘double the speed, triple the economic development’. He said his government had already decided to connect district headquarters with 4-lane roads.
Yadav blamed the previous Mayawati-led BSP government for the prevailing power crisis in the state. He claimed his regime had bequeathed the legacy of precarious power transmission infrastructure. The government was working on new solar energy policy and taking steps to ramp up power generation in the state, he underlined.
