Bamboo growing gets fillip in Himachal Pradesh

Growing of bamboo will get a boost in HP with the state government on Thursday allowing bamboo grove felling and its commercial use on private land.
Bamboo has now been included in the list of poplar, eucalyptus, willow, mulberry, albizzia and bahunia which can be felled in private land.
The state cabinet also granted approval to the amendments of the private universities regularisation and establishment bills.
The universities include Chitkara, Eternal University of Engineering, Shoolini, Manav, Arni and Indus universities.
The state cabinet also approved a draft Himachal Pradesh taxation amendment bill 2010 (on certain goods carried by road). The upcoming winter session of the state assembly will bring two amendments.
