BEL turnover up 6.3% in FY11

Bangalore-based defence PSU, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has posted.a turnover of Rs 5,550 crore for year-ended March 2011, registering a growth of 6.3 per cent as against Rs 5,219.77 crore reported during 2009-10. The company had set a target of Rs 5,700 crore this fiscal.

BEL achieved exports of $41.69 million, which is an increase of 76 per cent over last year’s exports of $23.65 million, the company said in a statement. The turnover per employee during 2010-11 was Rs 50 lakh as against last year’s Rs 45.2 lakh, an increase of 10.6 per cent. Some of the major orders executed during the year include the Akash Missile System, which was delivered first time by BEL.

 

During the year, BEL received an order for six squadrons of the Akash Missile System worth Rs 3,619 crore from the Indian Air Force.

BEL also delivered Central Acquisition Radar - Rohini, surveillance radar element, artillery combat command control system, battle field surveillance radar, L-Band surveillance radar, fire control systems, ship-borne electronic warfare system, integrated communication network system for ships, handheld UHF radios, passive night vision weapon sight, doppler weather radar among others.
