Britain wants tie-up with ASB

BS Reporter Chennai/ Kochi

Britain has shown keen interest in forging tie-ups with Kerala-based Asian School of Business (ASB) for conducting collaborative studies in areas like climate change, agriculture and energy sectors.

The proposal for tie-ups between British universities and ASB came up for discussions during a meeting between Mike Nithavrianakis, the British deputy high commissioner, and ASB director S Rajeev.

“Nithavrianakis visited the ASB campus at Thiruvananthapuram and talked about introducing us to British universities, which have specific competencies relevant for the ongoing ‘Emerging Kerala’ campaign,” Rajeev said.

Britain is also keen to increase the engagement of its universities and companies with India and is looking for collaborations and tie-ups, he added.

Britain is also keen in bringing its students to India for working in specific competencies that are in tune with the objectives and initiatives of the ‘Emerging Kerala’ branding campaign.

Rajeev, who chairs the Kerala state higher education council’s committee on industry-academia linkages, observed that India can benefit from the experiences of British institutions.

ASB has already forged a string of tie-ups with some top-notch universities like the Kansas University in the US and Instytut Organizachi Zarzadzania W Przemysle (ORGMASZ) of Warsaw (Poland). It is also in the process of establishing professional alliances with management institutions in Central Europe and East Asia.

ASB, is one of the first academic campuses in the country, which conforms to smart building protocols and is eligible for the LEED green campus certification.

For several years, American students and faculty from Kansas have been visiting the ASB campus for study and teaching. This has also facilitated ASB faculty and students to visit Kansas to learn from each other on managing global companies and enterprises.
