Chhattisgarh eyes central fund for eco tourism

Chandrakar said the state government was working on a plan to increase the flow of tourists in the state

Chhattisgarh is looking for fund from the Centre to promote eco tourism and develop a few centres as dream destinations for the tourists flowing in."Chhattisgarh tourism minister Ajay Chandrakar met the union minister for culture and tourism Shripad Yasso Naik and submitted the proposals demanding Rs 113.15 crore for the development and expansion of services in the tourist places," a senior official with tourism board said. The union minister had assured to consider the proposals, he added.

The destinations that the state government had planned to develop as eco tourist spot included Gangrel dam besides Sirpur-Kodar-Raipur-Tandula that would be shaped as mega eco tourist circuit.Chandrakar said the state government was working on a plan to increase the flow of tourists in the state.
 

"Under the plan, the government had aimed to increase the number of tourists from 20 million in a year to 100 million in next 10 years," the minister said.
