Cii Defence Team For Uk

Our Corporate Bureau BUSINESS STANDARD

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is taking a 14- member defence mission to the UK, to coincide with the Defence Systems and Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition to be held from September 9-12.

The delegation to be led by Vikram Sahgal, CII Defence Committee Member and Managing Director, Micron Instruments Pvt Ltd, will explore possible joint ventures for defence production in the country.

CII is organising the second CII defence mission to the UK with the primary objectives of promoting joint ventures, partnerships and collaboration between Indian and UK-based companies in defence related business. This is particularly relevant as the government has allowed 26 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) in defence production in India.

DSEi would provide the CII delegation with a unique platform to see the latest systems and equipment from the world's defence industry and provide a scope to develop international relationships and generate new business opportunities. DSEi is recognised as one of the leading tri-service defence shows in the world.

The exhibition, to be held for four days, will combine exhibits, displays, demonstrations and conferences. The highlight of the CII delegation will be touring the UK pavilion for one-to-one interaction with companies, a statement from the industry association said.

The CII defence delegation will also network with international companies for technology tie-ups and joint ventures. The delegation will also meet with key government officials and explore possibilities for outsourcing from India.

The areas of interest of the mission are diverse and include ammunition fuzes, artillery related defence products, defence electrics, combat and light armoured vehicles, automobiles for defence, simulators, UAV's, electromechanical products and sub-assemblies, precision components and Steel items used for defence, the release said.
