Exports from state grow 36.5%

The exports from Odisha have recorded a growth of 36.5 per cent with its total export figures crossing Rs 17,000 crore in 2010-11 against the achievement of Rs 12,000 crore in the previous year.
In fact, this robust performance of the state has placed it among the top four exporting states in the country, as per the assessment of the government of India.
Meanwhile, reviewing the ongoing projects under Assistance to States for Development of Export Infrastructure & Allied Activities (ASIDE) scheme, Chief Secretary B K Patnaik on Monday directed industries and MSME departments to take up aggressive marketing activities among the business organizations and industrial houses for optimum utilization of infrastructure which have been already created.
Under the ASIDE scheme, several projects are being implemented at various places in the state which include, construction of BPO towers in Bhubaneswar, auto park at Mania village in Cuttack, equity participation of government in Haridaspur-Paradeep broad gauge rail link, 132 KV line and sub-station with 12.5 MVA capacity for Daitari , MSME soft ware park of Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), setting up of an export oriented design cell, apparel park at Kurki, common processing center at Dhamara harbour, vertical expansion of CIPET building , corridor road at Kalinganagar industrial complex.
The State Level Export Promotion Committee (SLEPC) on Monday discussed some of the projects under ASIDE scheme. Chairing the meeting of SLEPC, the Chief Secretary asked the concerned departments to have close monitoring of the utilization of funds under the scheme. He also directed the Director, handicraft to make a detail assessment of the market requirement for promotion of filigree works.
